Précilia Hanan, Ph.D.
Clinical practice under supervision
(OPQ permit pending)
Clinician whose work sits at the intersection of trauma, complex family dynamics, and psychosocial and psycholegal assessment. Her presence is steady and precise, allowing her to hold complex material with clarity and depth. Known for her direct, human-centred approach, she brings structure to chaotic situations and helps clients understand their experiences in a way that is grounded, safe, and actionable. She provides specialized clinical and psycholegal services, including work with first responders and families navigating high-conflict or high-stakes contexts.
My Story
Précilia is a clinician whose work lives where psychology, trauma, and the law collide — and where clarity, truth, and human dignity matter the most. She works at the front lines of high-conflict family dynamics, domestic violence, child disclosures, parental capacity, and complex psychosocial realities. Her expertise is rooted in depth, precision, and a relentless commitment to doing the work properly — even when the stakes are high and the systems are messy.
With advanced experience in psychosocial and psycholegal expertise, trauma-informed care, DBT-informed therapy, psychoeducational assessment, and complex behavioural presentations, she supports children, adolescents, adults, and families whose stories require both clinical sensitivity and legal intelligence. Her practice is known for being structured, human, and uncompromisingly thorough.
Her style is fierce, grounded, and unapologetically real. She brings warmth without losing boundaries, compassion without losing clarity, and clinical creativity without ever sacrificing evidence or rigour. People come to her when things are complicated — and when they need someone who can hold the emotional truth and the legal context at the same time.
Through her work at the Service de médiation familiale et d’expertise psychosociale and extensive private mandates, Précilia has led numerous evaluations involving parental capacity, family violence, supervised access, attachment, developmental needs, and high-risk relational patterns. She collaborates with lawyers, social workers, and multi-disciplinary teams, bringing forward analyses that are detailed, ethically sound, and child-centred.
Her therapeutic background includes trauma-focused interventions, emotion regulation work, crisis support, ADHD and executive functioning assessment, and long-term work with individuals navigating intense relational pain, identity wounds, and behavioural dysregulation. She is known for her rare ability to combine clinical depth with sharp systemic insight.
Précilia completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she specializes in child development and the cultural validity of assessment tools. Her research — conducted across Montréal and France — examines how culture, context, and pedagogy shape children’s engagement and how assessment tools must adapt to remain fair and valid. She is currently awaiting her OPQ licence, which will finalize her independent practice rights.
At Kaïa Psychology, Précilia anchors the psycholegal and psychosocial division. She co-develops the clinic’s programs, leads complex evaluations, and embodies the clinic’s identity: resilient, human, ethical, and unafraid to sit in the fire with clients who need clarity and strength the most.
